  1. The information that Kurt Graham presented about the renovations at the Harry S Truman library was very interesting. He described President Truman as a president was was liked by both political parties. Truman took office after the death of FDR, but then he won a second term as President.
Some economic challenges that Truman had to deal with were turning a wartime economy into a postwar economy. There were GI's returning home, housing and job shortages, rising prices, and labor strikes. President Truman handled Civil Rights by establishing a President's Committee on Civil Rights that would help provide stability and equality. He also was the first president who campaigned for the African American vote. The Dixiecrats are also known as the States’ Rights Democratic Party. They broke away from the democratic party. They were mostly in the south and wanted to keep segregation while Truman wanted to end it. The New Deal and the Fair Deal are similar because they were put together by Presidents to improve America by improving the economy and supporting the citizens. The Fair Deal by Truman expanded some the programs started with the New Deal like Social Security. Both programs put people back to work. One difference is that the Fair Deal also included Fair Employment practices so that people couldn’t discriminate based on religion or race.

    4) Compare and Contrast the Fair Deal to the New Deal.
The fair deal wanted to help veterans with no jobs or college degrees. He also wanted to help farms sell crops. He also wanted to help the overall economy.

The new deal wanted to help the unemployed and the economy. The new deal is usually remembered for having two parts. The first new deal was to help the economy and the banking industry. The second new deal wanted to improve the nation's resources, provide relief for farms, and to start variurse government programs.

    - Truman's Fair Deal was the passing of bills as well as the establishment of new agencies. We compare this with the New Deal that gave citizens opportunities for the unemployed to get jobs following the Great Depression. Both gave people the opportunity to support their families with these jobs.

    1. Hi Erin. I also think that the Fair Deal is similar to the New Deal. In addition, it specifically helped with racial discriminations.
